Archbishop of York Visits Benefice

The Archbishop of York visited the Benefice of Loftus-in-Cleveland and Carlin How with Skinningrove on Tuesday 8th December 2015 as part of his six month Pilgrimage of Prayer, Witness and Blessing throughout the Diocese of York.

On the morning the Archbishop walked from Easington Village and into the town of Loftus accompanied by the Mayor of Loftus Cllr Mike Hodgson and was treated to morning refreshments at Loftus Town Hall.

After enjoying lunch with the local clergy, the Archbishop was accompanied by the Rector, Father Adam Gaunt and Cllr Barry Hunt on a walking tour of Skinningrove Village.  The Archbishop met a number of villagers and was able to visit the newly refurbished Skinningrove Jetty where prayers of blessing were offered for the village and for all those who work on the high seas.

The Archbishop’s visit to the benefice concluded with tea at Loftus Rectory.
