Sea Cadets commemorate 60th anniversary of the Queen’s Coronation

Guisborough and East Cleveland Sea Cadets will lead the way with a public parade on Saturday 1st June to mark the 60th anniversary of HM The Queen’s coronation.

Also in attendance will be the Town Mayor of Loftus and the Mayor of Redcar and Cleveland who will have the prestigious responsibility of taking the salute on behalf of Her Majesty, the patron of the Sea Cadets.

The parade will start at 11.00 and make its way from Loftus Market Place followed by a parade service at St Leonard’s Church at 11.30.

Also on show will be other uniformed youth organisations from the region.

Father Adam Gaunt, Rector of Loftus and Chair of Guisborough and East Cleveland Sea Cadets said, “I am thrilled our cadets are involved in this auspicious occasion and it is a wonderful opportunity for local people to see the ambassadors our Sea Cadets have become. The Sea Cadets offer young people adventure at sea and on land to instil within them qualities, such as self-confidence, commitment, loyalty and integrity which will provide them with the best possible head start in life, no matter what they choose to do. They will be smartly dressed in their uniforms marching through our town and really are a sight to behold. We hope as many local people as possible will show their support and get involved”.

Guisborough and East Cleveland Sea Cadets offer an environment where young people can find confidence and inspiration, learn lots of new skills, meet new friends and work as part of a team. You can volunteer to help cadets directly or get involved behind the scenes as part of a dedicated team who help with fundraising and managing the unit.
