St Helen’s Lectern Commemorates the 1915 Zeppelin Attack

A big thank you to Mr David Dance who, while researching the impact of the First World War on the communities of East Cleveland, has discovered and kindly shared with us this following article from the Daily Mail dated 4th August 1919.   This newspaper article informs the reader of the gift of the Eagle Lectern by Mrs. W H A Wharton to Saint Helen’s Church in thanksgiving for the community’s safety in the face of Zeppelin attack.
